Big Sister / Little Sister  The Big Sister/ Little Sister is a program which provides support for swimmers and divers. Through this program, it is our goal to break down cliques that can emerge during the season while orienting the inexperienced athletes to interscholastic competition. Freshmen and sophomores are randomly matched with upperclassmen to provide support on a "one-on-one" basis. This program has continually been one of the most successful aspects of the swimming and diving program at Fremd. It is important to note that the Big Sister/Little Sister program is an attempt to motivate the ladies and orient them to an environment that many have not encountered before. Therefore, it is not a contest to see how much money you can spend instead, it is a chance for the ladies to bond with their teammates. This can be accomplished by remembering teammates before meets, on special occasions, or just to brighten their day. Some great ideas to "psyche-up" teammates include signs, posters, cards, letters, and making sure that you cheer for your "sister" during her events. Remember, it's the thought that counts! Big sisters will be selected during the second week of practice. |
