Judges' Deductions
1. Excessive rocking (standing take-off) - deduct ½ to 2 points.
2. Knees apart during tuck (split tuck) - deduct ½ to 2 points.
3. Partially altered body position during flight - award 4½ maximum.
4. "Crow Hop" (standing take-off) - deduct ½ to 2 points.
5. Tuck used in twist dives other than 5131, 5221, 5231, 5321, 5331, or
5421 - award 4½ points maximum.
Reference Calls
1. Balk - reduce each judge's award by 2 points.
2. Two balks on same dive - failed dive.
3. No starting position achieved on standing take-off - failed dive.
4. Less than 3-step-forward approach - reduce each judge's award by 2
points.
5. Diver falls from board - failed dive.
6. Diver steps off board after beginning forward approach or assuming
starting position for standing take-off - failed dive.
7. Two-Foot-Hurdle (bunny hop) - reduce each judge's award by 2 points.
8. Standing forward take-off - reduce each judge's award by 2 point
maximum.
Flight
1. Dive done in wrong position - instruct judges - 2 point maximum.
2. Twist done before pike in 5111, 5211, 5311, and 5411 pike
dives.....failed dive.
3. Hitting board or wall - reduce each judge's award by 2 points.
Entry
1. Feet hit first on head-first dive - failed dive.
2. Head or hands hit first on feet-first dive - failed dive.
3. Hands above shoulders on feet-first entry - instruct judges - 2
points maximum.
4. Hands below shoulders on head-first entry - instruct judges - 2
points maximum.
General
1. Diver other than listed - failed dive.
2. Diver assisted by another person - failed dive.
3. Insincere attempt by diver - disqualify diver from event.
4. Obvious that dives listed are too difficult for diver - disqualify
diver from event.
