I happened to get interested in art when I was little upon watching my
mother's own creative interests. She would help out at my grade school as an
art volunteer aiding my teachers in class assignments. I remember when I was
young, we even had a specific room for art supplies and craftwork. It wasn't
until after I had taken one semester of photography sophomore year that I began
expanding new horizons in art. Mr. Malinowski, a.k.a. "Melon", was
the teacher of the course and was greatly encouraging to all of the students.
He had entered one of my works in a show, with many artists and it got
recognized with an honorable mention. I was so happy, particularly being that I
was a sophomore and only an amateur at this. The work I've done for this
semester seems actually quite mediocre for me, especially having my attention briefly withdrawn from art
due to various events that occurred during the season. I hope to increase the building of my
art to anticipate high expectations and to fulfill them. The piece most
important to me is the copy of Andy Warhol's self portrait prints because the
artist is my inspiration for design; also adding that my current boyfriend is
the model in the picture! Every time I look at that piece it makes me feel
complete. The most difficult of these four pieces would have to be the one with
the hands. - I wanted to capture that moment and enlarge the hands, creating a
distinct message. Unfortunately, changing the different colors of the pixels
was difficult because I wanted the hands to look realistic and not deformed.
All in all, these are my four best assignments I have completed this semester
and I hope to create better works next semester.
