I originally got interested in photography when I was younger. I used to carry around a disposable camera everywhere I went and took pictures all of the time. I finally got a digital camera when I was in junior high and I have continued taking pictures ever since. I was interested in darkroom because I had a digital camera already, and I was intrigued by the concept of watching your photo develop and learning how photos used to be printed before all of the current technology. I think the work I have done this semester has been pretty decent. It probably has not been my best that I am capable of because of all the other things consuming my time this year, but I think I have done a good job overall. I would like to try that much more next semester and take more quality pictures and really think about my concept. I will be done with some of my current tome consuming responsibilities in a little over a month, and then I will have a lot of free time to focus more on school and this class. I really enjoy taking photos and I wish I did try harder on my prints, not that I donÕt right now but I know I can push myself to experiment more and take full advantage of the darkroom. The piece that is most important to me is my copycat one with the girl at the screen door holding a martini glass. It is one of my good friends that means a lot to me, and I think it is one of my best this semester. I think that it was also my most difficult because I had to copy someone elseÕs work, which is not always an easy task. I had to set it up and really concentrate on what I wanted from the picture as well as direct my friend to do exactly what I wanted her to. Overall, this year is going good and I can only hope that I continue to get better and work harder because photography and the concept of capturing time is something that has always intrigued me.
