For the past twelve years, Fremd High School has hosted the Chicago Area 4x5 Art Exhibit.  We have seen the grand total of participating schools increase from 12 in 2000 to 43 this past year!  The 4x5 boundaries are reaching from Waukegan to Gurnee to Lombard to the South Side of Chicago.  Last year there were over 1200 pieces created from these categories:  drawing, painting, photography, digital photography, relief, sculpture, computer generated imagery, printmaking, and mixed media.  It’s truly the largest high school “small” art exhibit in the nation!  The most exciting and challenging aspect of this “small” exhibit is that the actual artwork itself must be exactly 4 inches by 5 inches in size.  The student’s creative solutions to these size limitations are outstanding! During the artists reception, we award custom plaques to all 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place winners in each category, and certificates are awarded to all the Honorable Mention recipients.  We’ve also included an “Artist Grab Bag” for all award recipients present at the reception.  The “grab bag” is a little extra fun and excitement made possible by the generosity of local art merchants in your neighborhood and ours.  These are examples of just some of the wonderful “grab bag” donations from last year’s reception...
