Picture of SS Minnow heading out to sea

S.S. Minnow
The Minnow was purchased through the Navy Surplus Program at the end of World War II. The Minnow was originally used for weekend cruises and ship review for top Navy brass at Pearl Harbor.

The 45 foot Minnow is made entirely of Nigerian balsa wood. The twin 350 hp. Mercruiser engines power the boat to a top cruising speed of 40 knots. The boat is capable of carrying a load of 7 passengers and their belongings, depending upon their wardrobe, for 3 hour cruises.

The S.S. Minnow has one sister ship, the S.S. Guppie, that is currently listed as “lost at sea” in the United States Ship Registry.
