Classroom Driver Education Syllabus

Course Goals:

To develop skills, attitude, and knowledge designed to make every student a safer and more skilled driver.

Course Objectives:

  1. The students will develop driving skill needed to navigate the complex Highway Transportation system, and the responsibilities involved in obtaining a drivers license.

  2. The students should develop and apply the Smith System, Zone Control, and the IPDE Process to different driving environments and conditions.

  3. The students should develop and apply the skill necessary to make responsible Decisions about driving related behaviors.

Class Rules:

  1. Students must meet all State and School attendance requirments

  2. No eating or drinking in class

  3. Complete all assignments on time.

  4. Act like a responsible  individual who deserves a Drivers License.

Grading

The students will be graded on the following: Tests, Homework, In Class Video, Bringing their Permit to class, and the Final Exam.

A+ 100-97 C+ 83-82
A 96-94 C 81-78
A- 93-91 C- 77-76
B+ 90-89 D+ 75-74
B 88-86 D 73-71
B- 85-84 D- 70-69


State Requirements for Cooperative Driving Testing Certification (Waiver)

  1. A or B in the Classroom phase of the course
  2. A or B in the Laboratory phase of the course (Behind the Wheel)
  3. A or B on the Behind the Wheel Final Exam (First Try)
  4. Follow Class rules
  5. Demonstrates a positive attitude and behavior throughout the entire course.
