General Comments
Ask your students to arrive in the lab before
the bell rings and stay in the lab for the
entire period. Taking a class of students
through the hallways or Media Center is disruptive.
Labs are for use by classes. They are
not a "drop-in" facility for students; there is
an area in the Media Center for "drop-in" computer
use.
In most labs, there are:
- 32 student workstations
- 2 printers
- 1 scanner
- 1 document camera
- 1 teacher workstation connected to a video
projector
Do no move the computers or monitors from their
positions on the desk; this can cause the
disconnection and excessive wear and tear of cables,
connectors, and other equipment.
Report any problems to the Technology Staff.
Before Using the Lab
Learn how to use the software you intend to use
with your class.
Get department chair approval for lessons
involving Internet use.
Sign up for lab times using the
Online Lab Sign up. (Not during Summer
school, however.)
Reservations of five or more consecutive school
days must be approved by Michael Bachrodt,
technology coordinator.
Please keep multiple day and multiple period
requests reasonable.
If you need to cancel your lab
reservation, please notify the Technology Staff
immediately, either via the
Online Lab Sign up , e-mail, or phone (x 2762).
Remind students to bring any necessary supplies,
such as textbooks, disks, or pictures for scanning.
Beginning of Period
Assign seating (i.e. number in grade book
is the assigned workstation number).
Check the general condition of lab.
Report any technology problems to a technology
staff member.
During the Period
No food or drinks are allowed in the lab.
Only Media or Technology Staff should attempt to
resolve technology issues, such as printer paper
jams.
End of Period
Close the software that is being used and
logout of Windows.
Users should shut down computers at the end of
the school day.
Check to see that the room is in order (i.e.
papers are recycled and garbage is thrown away,
keyboards and mice are placed in their drawers,
keyboard drawers and chairs are pushed in, desks and
chairs are returned to their original positions).
Do not turn off the printers or monitors.

Laptop carts
(Reserve
a laptop cluster
Online)
Reserving a laptop cart online is not available
during summer school.
Carol Hodek, x2762, maintains our two laptop
clusters for teacher check-out. We encourage you come down and
learn specifics about the carts before a first
time use. The Edtech staff does not deliver
carts to classrooms. Please come down before
your class and obtain the cart.
Science, Foreign Language, Family and Consumer Science, and Social
Studies also have carts available for their
departments to use.
The Edtech staff
is happy to assist with your technology needs
and questions!
