While Mr. P
always knew there would be a place in the kingdom of rock for himself,
he wasn't always sure how he might find his way there. Picking up a pair
of drumsticks at the embarrassing age of 10, he proceeded to learn every
Green Day song he laid his ears on and would perform on various pillows
and aluminum garbage cans around the house. From there, a whirlwind of
performance opportunities arose and he spent his troubled teen years
behind the kit for a variety of well-known rock groups, including
Nirvana, KISS, and a not-so-well publicized stint playing for Guns 'N'
Roses on their Use Your Illusion III Tour.
Around the time
that he was finishing up his degree in educa-tion, a point when he had
given up most of the rock and roll dreams of his childhood, he was
approached by FANBOYS, who were in need of a bass player; the
only problem was that he had no previous experience on the instrument.
Never one to back down from a challenge, Mr. P soldered a pair of old
drumsticks together, affixed to this "body" a set of four bungee cords,
and proceeded to teach himself how to play the tastiest bass riffs man
has ever known. The rest is the stuff of rock history.
