Symphonic Band reference recordings and other info:

The Symphonic Band consists of freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior students.  The band performs intermediate high school band repertoire, striving for the highest level of performance and musicianship.  Continued emphasis is placed on music reading, counting rhythms, tone production, ensemble playing, balance, blend, and intonation.  Placement in the band is made by the director and based on musical ability. 

Quarterly band grade will include the following: Homework assignments, concert performances (as determined by the directors), dress rehearsals (if scheduled), three Pep Band games, and sectional attendance (one twenty minute sectional every two weeks).  Additional grading requirements are listed in the 2008-2009 FHS Band Handbook.  The Symphonic Band is directed by Mr. Moore and Mr. Lang.

Sectional Requirements for Symphonic Band:

1.  Students are required to attend a 25 minute sectional once every two weeks with our FHS sectional staff.  

2.  Attendance at these bi-weekly sectionals are part of each student's grade.  Students will not be able to make up missed sectionals - except if a student has a conflicting school activity that meets at the same time as the sectional (ex: make-up test).  If this does occur the student must inform either Mr. Moore or Mr. Lang one day prior to the sectional. 

3.  Students who do not have a lunch or study hall must do a bi-weekly sectional on their own time, and submit the record using the online sectional form (located at the bottom of this page).  If a student is absent during the day of a sectional they must also form their own sectional and submit the online sectional form.  If the student is unable to find additional students for a sectional then they should practice for 25 minutes and still submit the online sectional form.
