Physics 432
Mr. Rodino
“He is only exempt from failures who makes no effort.”
- Richard Whately
Purpose and Focus
The purpose of this class is to give you a strong background in high school laboratory physics. We will focus on traditional physics topics including the mathematical relationships that these topics involve.
Grading
The following represents a close approximation of the grading scale for this class:
|
97-100 A+ |
68-69 C+ |
|
88-96 A |
63-67 C |
|
85-88 A- |
60-62 C- |
|
82-84 B+ |
58-59 D+ |
|
74-81 B |
53-57 D |
|
70-73 B- |
50-52 D- |
Note
well that this is an approximate scale. Please use this as a general
guide only. Also note that your total percentage will be based on an
approximate ratio of 60% Tests and Quizzes; 20% Labs; 20% Homework. You
need only keep track of your total points and the total possible to know your
status at any time in the year.
Materials
You are expected to bring the following to class every day:
A pencil or pen or both
A physics notebook
All homework assignments written out ready for collection
Your physics text book
A scientific calculator (I would recommend a TI-85, 86 or 89)
Any other materials that might be appropriate for a particular unit of study
Extra Help
If you find that you are having trouble with some aspect of this class, please see me right away. I will be available by appointment during the day periods 1, 2a, and 5th. If you cannot meet me during the school day, we will meet before or after school. Please see me as soon as a problem develops. Often, a little early help in physics can prevent big problems later.
