Qualification and Submittal Reminders:

Applicant must be a female.
·
The applicant's home must be in a
zip code with these three numbers as the first three digits: IL 600-608,
610-611, and 613; IN 463-466.
·
The applicant must be a freshman,
re-entry or transfer student accepted into an engineering or computer science
program at an accredited college or university for the Fall 2009 semester.
·
The applicant's grade point average
must be above 3.0/4.0 scale.
·
Application must be filled out
completely and submitted with the following information:

A certified copy of your high
school transcript

Proof of acceptance into a
university engineering program (acceptance letter)
q
Letter of recommendation (1
minimum)
q
One page or less essay entitled
“Why I Want to Become an Engineer”

Argonne Pre-College
Research Participation Program
This is an 8 week program in which college bound students
participate in laboratory research under the direction of scientists and
engineers.
From June 8, 2009- July 31st, 2009
Stipend is 375.00/week

Iowa State University Chemistry Scholarships
The Clifford C. Hach Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial support for
education and in particular for undergraduate scholarships in the field
of Chemistry. The scholarship, funded by the Clifford C. Hach Memorial
Fund, will fund $6,000 (payable in two increments) during the first
academic year. This four- year scholarship may be renewed each year as
long as the student remains in good academic standing (3.0 GPA) and
remains a chemistry major.
The Hach Scientific Foundation Chemistry Teacher Scholarship
The purpose of this fund is to provide financial support for
chemistry scholarships. The scholarship shall be for an annual amount of
$6,000*, to be reviewed and approved by the Board of the Hach Scientific
Foundation on a yearly basis.

Undergraduate Scholarships
Available for Chemical Science and Chemical Technology Majors
The American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program is now
accepting applications for the 2009-2010 academic year. This program is targeted
at minority groups considered to be under-represented in the sciences- African
American, American Indian and Hispanic or Latino students. Award amounts are
based on financial need and can be up to $2500 per academic year for college
freshmen, up to $3000 per year for college sophomores, and up to $5000 per year
for college juniors and seniors. This scholarship is also available to students
in two-year chemical technology programs.
Graduating high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores
and juniors are eligible to apply. The number and amount of awards are subject
to available funding. We must receive applications by March 1, 2009. Students in
pre-med, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry, and veterinary medicine programs are not
eligible for this scholarship.

The
Chemical Industry Council of Illinois,
through the Illinois Chemical
Education Foundation (ICEF) presents a number of $2,000 scholarships each year
to top high school senior science students. We welcome all applications for the
ICEF
scholarships.
The ICEF’s objective is to recognize and honor high school seniors who have
exemplified outstanding achievement in academics, extracurricular/employment
activities and community involvement.
Please submit the following information postmarked by
Friday, February 20, 2009,
and received no later than Friday, February 27, 2009.
• Name, address, and telephone number only on a cover page
• Official high school transcript including grade point average with scale
• Rank in high school class
• ACT/SAT/PSAT scores (Either through Official transcript or from the ACT)
• Two letters of recommendation from teachers, including one science teacher
• A one page essay on "How the study of chemistry will impact the student's
future and/or chosen career"
• List of extracurricular activities, including community service, awards and
accomplishments, and employment/work experience
Do not include photographs, certificates, folders, or binders with your
application.

School Scholarship
applicants must be an Illinois resident and planning to attend a post-secondary
educational institution (i.e. junior college, community college, four-year
undergraduate institution) located in Illinois. We encourage all eligible
students to apply for this prestigious scholarship. There is no limitation on
the number of students that may apply at each school.
The ICEF Scholarship Awards will be presented at our 52nd Annual
Scholarship Luncheon in April 2009. Be sure to include a return address and a
contact telephone number with your application!
