What are Career Treks?

Career treks are Career related field trips organized through Mrs. Oakes, the Career Advisor.  These are supervised and take place during the school day. 

 

How Do I Get A Permission Slip for a Trek?

Students can either email Mrs. Oakes at moakes@d211.org or pick up a slip in the Media Center or from Mrs. Bryk in Student Services for a specific upcoming trek…or download a generic permission slip from this site and fill in the information. 

 

All permission slips must include teacher initials and parent signatures.

 

Many treks have limited slots available.  The first signed permission slips turned into Mrs. Bryk in Student Services are guaranteed a space on the trek.

 

What is a Job Shadow?

Job Shadows are a one time, unsupervised, one on one experiences with a professional.  Initial phone contact is made via Mrs. Oakes.  Students then contact the professional to set up a time and day for the shadow.  Parents are responsible for transportation and arranging the approved absence.
