Freshman Elective Course Selection Sheets

Explore Test results were mailed home January 4. The results of this test will help determine the English, math and science course levels your child will take during the 9th grade year of high school.

In addition to the test score results you should have received a copy of the Freshmen Course Selection Sheet for the 2010-2011 School year. This sheet lists the available elective courses that your child can select. Please review the list and discuss the choices with your child. Click here find out more about electives offered to freshmen. An electronic copy of the entire curriculum guide is available here. Your child will receive a copy of the curriculum guide when our school’s guidance counselors visit your child’s junior high school this month.

When considering elective course choices be sure you refer to your child’s Explore test score results. Check those results against the Explore Test Target Range listed on the Freshman Course Selection Sheet. This will help you determine appropriate elective courses.

Completed Freshman Course Selection Sheets can be turned in on January 20th during Incoming Freshman Parent Night. If, after visiting the Curriculum Fair at the January 20th event, you find it necessary to discuss elective choices with your child before turning the selection sheet in, your child may return the sheet to the drop box located in the main office at your child’s junior high school The drop box will be available during the school day on January 21-22.

Final placement and course selections will be mailed home in February. Questions regarding the Freshman Course Selection Sheet or any other issue regarding the transition to high school can be directed to a Fremd guidance counselor by calling 847-755-2630.

Student Enrollment

All eighth grade students must complete the enrollment process. This process includes turning in the following documents:

  • Township High School District 211 Master Enrollment Form
  • Proof of Residency
  • Child’s Original Birth Certificate

The Master Enrollment Form must be completed and signed by the child’s parent or guardian. Proof of Residency is satisfied by providing a bill from ComEd or NICOR that shows the name of the parent or guardian and an address within the Fremd High School attendance boundaries. A current signed lease indicating the names of the tenants, a contract documenting the purchase of a home, or a current property tax bill can be used to verify residency as well. An original birth certificate is required. All original documents will be photocopied and then returned to the parent or guardian.

All original documents were be photocopied and returned. Additionally, parents could have sent the enrollment documents with their students on December 5. The documents were processed while the Explore test was administered and then returned to the students before the test was completed.
