Attention Seniors:  If you need a Mid-Year Transcript sent to any College or University please see your counselor to order.

 

Juniors- Your Senior Class tshirt is on sale until March 20 at the cashier. Pictures of the shirt are on signs. Cost of the shirt is $10

 

All Sophomores & Juniors who have a 3.0 cumulative (not semester GPA are invited to apply for National Honor society. You must also have 10hrs of service + 10hrs of leadership. The application is on the NHS website. The application will be online from November 7-February 11.  Applications are due on Friday, February 10, 2012 by 3 pm (no later) in the Main Office.  A box in the Main Office will be available beginning Monday, February 6, 2012. 

 

ACT Prep for English, Reading and Science – is every Thursday in room 166 from 3:00-4:00 p.m.

ACT Prep. Math- Wednesdays in Room 256 from 3:00-4:00 pm

 

Pom Tryouts  will be held April 9-12 from 6:30pm to 9pm in the cafeteria. Please see Mrs. Richards if you have any questions.

 

AP Information Day:  ALL AP students are required to attend a session on AP Information Day, Wednesday, February 15.  Sessions are held in the Auditorium at 7:00 a.m and during the first and second half of all lunch periods.  Attendance will be taken.  If you do not have a lunch period, please make arrangements, prior to February 15, to attend the 7:00 a.m. session.

 

February 15 at 3:00PM is that last date for grade changes and completion of incompletes to be considered in the selection of Academic Scholars or Seven Semester Honor Roll for the Class of 2012.  After February 15, grade changes will continue to be made but the Academic Scholars and Seven Semester Honor Roll Designees will no longer be adjusted.

 

HAVE A HEART, SAVE A LIFE:  Support the campaign to purchase a defibrillator for the Children’s Advocacy Center by purchasing a Valentine’s Day cookie.  Cookies will be pre-ordered during the lunch hours this week.  Cookies are $3 and can be picked up on February 13th and 14th, just in time to wish a friend Happy Valentines Day!

 

High School Juniors:  American Cancer Society offers a Summer Research Program to introduce students to scientific research, specifically, cancer research, to promote career opportunities in the area of cancer.  This program will help students develop their own philosophy in biophysics, biochemistry, immunology, and pharmacology, as well as gain an understanding of cancer and its impact on Illinois residents.  The program will run for eight weeks, June 25-August 10, with a stipend of $2000.  Applications are due March 14 and can be found outside Mrs. Brottman’s office in Student Services.

Exploring a Career in Medicine??

Camp Cardiac - serves as an ideal introduction for any high school student interested in exploring a career in medicine.

With a focus on both education and real world experience, Camp Cardiac provides students with a unique opportunity to learn directly from experts in the medical field.  In addition, this 1-week summer day camp provides a foundation for heart healthy living with an emphasis on both diet and exercise.  Although Camp Cardiac's primary focus is on care and maintenance of the heart, it provides an excellent starting point for careers in all fields of medicine.  Scholarship and regular applications are now open for summer 2012.  See http://www.campcardiac.org. for more details.

Annual Dance Show - Dancing Through the Decades, Friday Feb. 10 and Sat. Feb. 11 at 7pm  in the Kolze Audtorium.  Tickets are only 5 dollars.  Tickets will be sold during lunch hours Wed, Thurs and Friday this week and at the door.
